On-Track Ministries will be part of a special event, Fishing against Cancer, co-sponsored through Strike Foundation that is run by Donnel Nixon, formerly of the Seattle Mariners and the World Series San Francisco Giants of 1989. Otis Nixon is a 25-year veteran of Professional Baseball and was recently nominated for the National Baseball Hall of Fame. His stats speak volumes as he has proven himself as a heavy weight in the baseball arena. He played for the Atlanta Braves, Cleveland Indians, Montreal Expos, Boston Red Sox, Texas Rangers, Minnesota Twins, and the |
Toronto Blue Jays. His most famous play would be the “catch” for the Atlanta Braves. It can still be viewed here -- it was voted Best Catch by an Outfielder on tbs.com. Otis also holds the single game record for stolen bases in the history of baseball--six. |

ON-Track Ministries was birthed in 2000, the same year Otis retired from baseball. The Lord took him from one occupation into another. ON-Track Ministries was formed with founder and President Otis Nixon, Vice President Donell Nixon and Secretary/Treasurer Jana VanDyke. We started ON-Track with modest expectations and, by the grace of the Lord, it has taken off. We conduct baseball clinics at local baseball fields for our children. We conduct fundraisers for local churches and various other organizations. We help with various charity drives. We do speaking engagements in schools, churches, jails and motivational seminars. It is our hope that we can be a bridge for our youth and be able to show how important it is to stay on the correct path with Jesus Christ. Hopefully, using the media, we can spread the word about the powerful impact being a good Christian has on the lives of our children. |

Otis has enrolled in World Harvest’s Ministry school and has committed himself for the next two years to this educational program. This is not only to better himself but to fulfill an inner need to help others. |
